Chandler Hertzler (former LVA student) is doing an Eagle Project to raise money for leveled books for the S.T.A.R. Tutoring Program here at Lakeview. A penny war is a school wide competition where individual grades try to earn the most money. Each grade has a jar that students can put pennies in. They want to put as many pennies in their grades jar as possible. But other grades jars can put in quarters and dollar bills in other grades' jars to minus points from that grade.
Each coin/currency is worth its value in money. For example a penny is worth 1, a quarter is worth 25cents and a dollar bill is worth 100, etc. At the end of the competition we add up the total amount of points, and the top grade gets a donut party. Chandler will supply the jars and items for the donut party. He will tally up the points every other day and have the leader announced. After the war, he will count up the points and announce the winner. The Penny War started Monday. Feb.th to Friday, Feb. 17th.
The party for the winning grade will be Feb. 20th. The teachers that have the jars are Mrs. Wyatt for kindergarten Mrs. Clark for first grade Mrs. Stapley for second Mr. Livingston for third Miss. Hansen for fourth Mrs. K, Nelson for fifth Mrs. Brailsford for sixth Mr. Gustafson for seventh Mrs. Ettinger for eighth Mrs. Thompson for ninth.
